BlueBoy's Sturgis 2007 Rally Tour Planning Album

Dated: Aug 16, 2007

On July 20, 2007, Bruce (BlueBoy) and M.D. (Dawg) departed on a estimated 3 weeks, 5500 mile run to the 67th Annual Sturgis Bike Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota -via- Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.
...with stops at: Sante Fe, NM - Durango, CO (with Tour Runs to Telluride, Four Corners, ShipRock, Silverton) and Vernal, Utah

then Jackson, Wyoming for touring runs in Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons mountain range...

then West Yellowstone, Montana for touring runs in Yellowstone National Park...

then depart via Cooke City for a Run to Montana via Beartooth Mountain Range...

then to Little Big Horn Battlefield Memorial at Crow Agency, Montana...

then to Devils Tower National Monument just south of Hulett, Montana...

THEN to Sturgis, South Dakota - for the 67th Annual Sturgis Biker Rally

...and these are 'most' of the pictures - enjoy.

Final Distance (includes Tour Runs)
- it was 1400 miles to Durango, CO
- it was 2500 miles to Jackson, WY
- it was 3750 miles to Sturgis, SD
- FINALLY, it was 5800 Miles Total Trip

In Sante Fe, it rained 2.5 inches in 4 hours.
We hit rain before crossing Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado, then we gased up in Pagosa Sps - before we could leave town, it rained, sleeted, and hailed *bean size* with 6 inches of water running thru the streets.
When we left Durango north via Silverton, we got hit by rain, sleet, and nichol size hail and the mountain road to Silverton was frozen in a couple of places - it all stopped when we arrived at Silverton - then started back up when we left, continuing out way North.
On our way North to Fort Bridger in southern Wyoming, we hit road construction where they removed all pavement and had in it's place red-sandy-clay that stuck to everything and loose gravel - a ton of fun!
When we left West Yellowstone MT for Cooke City and BearTooth Pass, we crossed Yellowstone Park where the morning temp was 38 degrees and a cloud layer sitting at ground level.
In Sturgis SD, we stayed at the Lampere Ranch Campground instead of Glencoe and were well pleased with the price and the facilities - it's a very good campground; missing only the BREEZY Riders we were use to seeing at Glencoe. Sturgis S.D. area seemed a lot more crowded then ever and we were unable to do all the Touring Runs out of Sturgis that we had planned.

GAS PRICES ranged from about 2.69 to 4.59 *Cooke City* with an average of about 3.09.

North American Continental Divide was Crossed: 11 times

Return Trip from Sturgis, SD to Little Rock, AR
Day 1 = 648 miles - 12.0 hours
Day 2 = 699 miles - 15.0 hours
Temps in South Kansas and Northern Oklahoma were 100 to 107 degrees and we encountered CROSS-WINDS from 15-to-20 and 30-to-35 even 40 mph briefly... BlueBoy's Ride got push over about 6 inches at one point by gusting cross-winds in No. Oklahoma - Kan we say "Pucker Effect"!! <..wasn't entirely sure my bike seat was wet from jus' sweat !!>
